Sunlight Mountain Resort transforms into a mountain bikers paradise in the summer months. More than 16 miles of marked trails wander through a woodland landscape that features aspen groves, wildflower meadows, ponds, stream crossings and sometimes grazing cattle. Don’t be alarmed, just give them a holler and they’ll kindly share the trail.

The Roaring Fork Valley offers miles and miles of scenic paved trail systems that follow the Colorado River through breathtaking Glenwood Canyon or the Roaring Fork River via the Rio Grand Trail. Suitable for riders of all abilities, these trails afford awe-inspiring views along smooth surfaces with manageable elevation gains. We rent bikes for the entire family. Sunlight’s intimate, unpretentious atmosphere can be attributed to its small-town roots. Named after a once-thriving coal mining town in the area that disappeared in the early 1900’s, Sunlight serves up authentic western hospitality. With its summit situated on Compass Mountain, Sunlight offers beautiful vistas of majestic Mount Sopris and the surrounding Elk Mountain Range.
